Ryutaro Uchiyama is a doctoral researcher in the areas of cultural and cognitive evolution. Originally from Japan, he is now based in the Department of Psychological and Behavioural Science at the London School of Economics, where he works with Dr. Michael Muthukrishna.
Ryutaro has a broad interdisciplinary background that spans psychology, neuroscience, evolutionary biology, humanities, and design. In his current research he uses computational and experimental methods to explore topics such as the structural relationship between cultural dynamics and behavioural genetic effects, the cultural evolution of social learning strategies, and the emergence of psychological variation.
