Natalia studies urbanisation and the evolution of cities, at the Department for Human Behavior, Ecology and Culture of the Max-Planck Institute for Evolutionary Anthropology. She conducts her doctoral dissertation fieldwork on human settlement patterns in the "ger districts" of Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia.
